Interrupted Eden - at Waiheke Art Gallery

I've been working on a new body of work concerning man's impact on our natural environment.  I am releasing the first two images from this series at Waiheke Art Gallery in a group exhibition called Sea Conversations,

This is my Interrupted Eden series, where I create garden installations within natural spaces. The sea itself is no longer what we think it is.  We have a vision of the sea as a pure, perfect entity, as the flowers also appear in this photograph ... however all is not as it seems at first glance.  On closer inspection, the flowers reveal themselves to be fake or artificially altered ... more man made 'stuff', much of which ends up in the oceans. These are juxtaposed with the beauty of the sea which appears beautiful, but is becoming increasingly choked with plastics and human waste.  I am curious about whether the flowers are still beautiful with the knowledge that they are not real?  Is the sea still beautiful with rubbish lurking under the surface?  All is not as it seems.
